11/19/08 – Wednesday – We are now on Facebook. Sam has a page & Jen has a page. You can find us by searching for Sam Lake with Baptist Mid-Missions as the employer. Facebook is a great way to keep up with little day to day things we list there. There are some different photos than you will find on the web site. You might find it interesting. Just send us a friend request through them and we’ll sign up to be your friend.
11/18/08 – Tuesday – This past weekend we were in Butler, PA for the morning & afternoon. We had a great time with the church people there. Afterwards were drove north for two hours to Waterford, PA. On the way there it started to snow. During church we probably got six inches of snow. It was snowing so hard you could hardly see. We were about 4 hours from home in normal weather. We thought we’d try to drive home. After about 30 minutes we made it to the thruway – 90. It would probably take 9 hours instead of 4 to get home. We pulled off and stayed in a hotel. As we were unloading the van we heard a horrible sound. It was thundering & lightning as well as blinding snow – weird stuff. Another guy that was outside said, “I think the world is coming to an end!” We were able to get on the road by 9:30am Monday and made it home around 2:30 that afternoon.
11/12/08 – Wednesday We are thanking the Lord – we were just now able to schedule a last minute meeting for this Sunday night in Waterford, PA. We had a place for the morning & afternoon, but the evening had recently become available. - P.S. We drove home from Massachusetts Sunday night – arrived at 2:40am!
11/7/08 – Friday night – We are getting ready to leave in the morning for New Hampshire. We have about a 9 hour drive. We will be there Sunday morning. After that we have a 2 ½ hour drive into Massachusetts for the evening service. We should get home sometime Monday afternoon. We are now at 41 meetings for 2009, and 1 for 2010 – yes I said 2010. It’s a long way off but you take what you can get. Jen had a doctor’s appointment yesterday and all is well with her and the little one. It looks like to due date is around the 1st of April. Thank you for your continued prayers.
10/22/08 – Wednesday – It has been a good week. We enjoyed our Sunday at Tuscarora Baptist Church in Addison, NY. It is their Mission Conference month. This Friday & Saturday we will be at the ESF (Empire State Fellowship) Conference in Horseheads, NY. There will be good preaching and several workshops to attend. It will also be a great opportunity to meet many of the New York pastors we have not met as of yet. Thank you for your prayers – Jen has been feeling much better this past week or so. The Lord has been blessing with meeting for 2009. We have 39 as of now.
10/09/08 – Thursday – Tuesday we had a mission conference meeting in Corry, PA. We left our house around 1pm and arrived at the church at 6pm to get set up. The evening service was very good and we met a lot of great people. After visiting and packing back up we left the church around 8:45pm. We were very glad to find gas a lot cheaper in PA than in NY (about 40 cents a gallon cheaper) so we filled up the van. We arrived back at our house a little after midnight (12:20am) very tired.
10/06/08 – Monday
A day in the life of deputation
– Sunday the alarm went off at 5:45am. We got up and I asked Jen if she thought she felt well enough to make the trip. She said she wanted to try. Emily woke up about 6am. She usually doesn’t get up until 8am. It is hard for her on Sunday because her schedule gets so messed up. We get ready and packed up the van and pulled out of the driveway at 6:40am heading for New Hartford, NY. We arrived at the church at 8:47am. We meet the pastor for the first time. Took our ministry things into the church. Sam set up the display table and got the computer and projector set up. Jen got Emily dressed for the day and something to eat (she was still in PJs). We visited with people as they arrived. Sam taught the Sunday school hour for the adults. Jen still was feeling pretty good so she was able to sing special music for the morning service just before Sam preached the message. More visiting with the church people after the service. The church had a carry in dinner (potluck dinner) from about 12:30pm to 1:30pm. Then we had an afternoon service that started at 1:30pm so we could share the ministry of the Bronx. We started about 1:35pm with our presentation and wrapped up at 2:30pm. Emily fell asleep on Jen in the pew around 2pm so I had to do Q&A time. The church asked a lot of great questions for us to answer. After people were done visiting and looking at our display we packed everything up. Said goodbye to the pastor and left the church at about 3:05pm heading for the next church! We were in Killawog for the evening service. It was about 2 hours away. Jen and Emily were able to get a little nap on the drive over. We arrived at the church around 5:15 pm and sat in the parking lot. We usually arrive everywhere we go early. We never know about the weather, traffic, construction, etc that might delay us. The pastor arrived at 5:45pm. We unloaded the van again. Got our display table, computer, projector and speaker system all set up. Church started at 6:30pm at this church. They sang a couple songs, announcement, etc then we shared about the Bronx until 7:30pm. We visited with people, talked and answered more questions after the service. We pulled out of the church about 8:10pm heading for home. Jen felt fine most of the day until now. He was really feeling sick. We drove until about 9:15pm and stopped for dinner. We went thru McDonalds drive thru for some chicken nuggets for Emily and then across the street and inside Arbys. We were back on the road around 9:40pm. Emily fell asleep around 10pm. We made one more bathroom stop. We arrived home at 10:46pm. Jen put Emily to bed. We laid down and talked about the day for awhile before falling asleep.9/23/08 Tuesday – This past Sunday we were in Rochester, NY. Jen and Emily did not go. For the past six weeks Jen has been very nauseous, getting sick a lot, and very wore out from the pregnancy. It was a good day at Henrietta Regular Baptist Church. Sam shared some about the ministry in the S.S. hour along with a short devotional. He preached in the AM service then presented the ministry of the Bronx in the evening. Please continue to keep Jen and the new little one in your prayers. Thank-You.
9/11/08 – Jen is about 9 weeks pregnant! We are excited about having a new little one. When you ask Emily if she wants a little brother or sister she replies, “One of each!” Please pray for Jen’s health and the baby’s. The past few weeks Jen has been very tired, sick, sore and nauseous. Please keep her in your prayers.
8/29/08 – The Bronx – This past weekend we were able to go to the Bronx for a visit. It was great to visit with Marty & Val. Emily really liked playing with their kids. Mid week service is Friday night, so we were able to go to that and Sunday service. We were able to fellowship with the church people and get to know them a little more. We saw the progress on the new church. It is really coming along and looking wonderful. We handed out flyers for people to come to church. One man (Tony) came in and talked with Marty for a while then left. We took lots of photos of the people. It was so good to be back.
8/11/08 – Monday afternoon – We give thanks to the Lord. He has blessed us with 20 meetings with churches so far for 2009! This year has been full for some time. Every Sunday we are in one or two churches for the rest of the year. We left a couple weeks open in December so we could go back to Michigan and visit family.
8/6/08 – Greetings! We have had our share of rain the past couple weeks. As we were driving home from a meeting last week we had to do something we have never done before. We had to pull off the road because it was raining so hard we could not see. Most everyone on the NY thruway pulled over. It was amazing to see the power of God. You could not even see 20 feet in front of you! Within 10 minutes we were back on the road.
8/1/08 – Last week, we were at camp – Moose River Baptist Youth Camp in the foothills of the Adirondack Mountains. It is a great camp especially if you enjoy the wilderness. We were there for the senior high week. Sam spoke twice a day in the chapel service. The theme for the week for Seeking and Serving God. We had the opportunity to get to know several of the campers and enjoyed spending time with such a great group of young people. Jen had the opportunity to do devotions for the girls one evening and was also able to counsel a camper. Please pray that these young people will take home what they learned at camp and apply it to their daily lives. We participated in several of the activities with the campers including a 3 hour hike up the mountain to Castle Rock, board games, a campfire and more. The food was excellent too. The week ended with a banquet and a Biblical challenge from camp director, Pastor Al Hartwig. Praise the Lord for such a nice camp.
7/19/08 – Saturday – It is Saturday. We are getting ready to take off for the weekend. I think we are official New Yorkers now – at least in the eyes of the DMV. We now have NY car insurance and Sam put the NY license plates on the van today. We have been busy. Sam has to do 10 messages for Moose River Baptist Youth Camp in Lyons Falls next week. When we get home late Sunday night we will do laundry and pack – then leave first thing in the morning for the camp.
6/30/08 – Monday – The church we were going to be with yesterday had to cancel for now. We were able to be at Bible Baptist here in Williamson, NY for the whole day. It was good to be able to get to know some of the people some more.
This evening Jen’s parents arrived by plane from Michigan. They are going to stay for a week. It will be good to visit and get caught up since we last saw them. Emily sure was excited to see Grandpa & Grandma.
6/14/08 – Saturday – We had a little car trouble this past week. We were able to get an appointment at the repair shop. It turned out to be the coil cap for the distributor. It is now fixed and running a lot better. We are very thankful to the Lord that it did not break down on the way to a meeting. Gas was at a high of $4.32 yesterday!
6/9/08 – June 1st we were in West Stewartstown, NH. We left here Saturday at 8:45am and arrived 11 hours later. It rained most of the way there. We saw a lot of moose crossing signs – but no moose. It was a very good day with the church. The Pastor and his family were not there. Their daughter had to have surgery. Keep Sarah in your prayers. Monday we headed home. It was a long trip, especially for Emily. Saturday the 7th we headed for Allegany, NY to stay in a missions house owned by Allegany Baptist Church. We were in Portville Sunday morning with an afternoon service and then at Five Mile Baptist for the evening. It was a good Sunday but very hot!
We have seen gas at a high of $4.25 and diesel at $5.19 a gallon.
5/30/08 – Friday – It has been a busy week again. This past Sunday we were at Hamlin, NY for the morning. We are thankful that people see the need for Christ in the Bronx. Many people were moved by the presentation. We thank the Lord for moving in people’s hearts. Sunday night we were able to be at Bible Baptist here in Williamson (the church that is letting us use their house). It was a good night for them to get to know us and for us to get to know them. We introduced ourselves and showed our DVD presentation for them.
Wednesday night we were in Maine, NY. We had dinner with the Pastor and his family. Jen & I spoke with the kids club and then did the evening adult service. We could tell the people really have a heart to the lost people of the Bronx.
5/22/08 – Thursday – Greetings from New York. Last night we had a meeting in Camden, NY with Servants Baptist Church. It was a good evening and we were excited to be a part of their Mission’s Conference for the year. Please pray for our family’s health. In the past two or three weeks we have each been sick two times each! Jen and Emily are feeling fairly well but Sam still is under the weather. Thank you for your continued faithful prayers for us.
5/21/08 – Wednesday – We headed out last Saturday morning for West Virginia. We arrived in the evening. Very beautiful and hilly land. We had a good morning with the people at Emmanuel Baptist Church. After the service we had a three hour drive to Ohio. For the evening we were at First Baptist of Gallipolis, OH. Sam was able to meet with the Pastor and his wife before church for dinner. Emily had fallen asleep before we arrived so Jen stayed with her. We really enjoyed our time with the people there.
The Lord kept us safe in our travels. We did see a car hit a deer. Gas was at a high of $4.01 and diesel at $4.99.
Last night we were supposed to be in Camden, NY for a conference but we received a call that there was no power, no lights. Thankfully they said that we can come tonight.
One other bit of excitement from last night. The new house we are in has a dishwasher. Jen decided to try it out last night. She started it and then went upstairs. When we returned a while later there was about a inch of water on the kitchen floor. With the help of the Pastor and Sam’s shop vac we got it all cleaned up. The kitchen floor sure does sparkle now!
5/16/08 – Friday – Greetings from New York! We have arrived safe and sound. The trip went well. We bought diesel fuel at a high of $4.75 a gallon. There was a lot of construction along the way. Every thing has been unloaded (thanks to lots of help). It will take some time to unpack everything. Emily likes having her own bedroom. Williamson is a small town of about 1,500 people. It is about 20 miles east of Rochester. We are very grateful to Bible Baptist Church of Williamson for the use of the home. Tomorrow we leave for West Virginia for a meeting Sunday morning then to Ohio for Sunday night. We will get back home Monday night. Thank you for all of your prayers.
5/13/08 Tuesday – Good Morning! It is 7:40am. The moving truck is loaded and in a couple hours we will take off for NY. Last night we had several people from our church that came and helped load the moving truck. The house is basically empty now. We are excited about heading to NY and being closer to the Bronx.
5/07/08 – Wednesday – Almost packed. There are banana boxes every where you look. It is like we live in a maze. We were at our home church for the last time this past Sunday. They had a potluck dinner and time of fellowship after the evening service for our family. We were able to say our good-byes to everyone. Sam got together with some of his family Sunday afternoon for a goodbye dinner. This weekend Jen is going to her parents for a Mother’s Day event at their church and to say goodbye to her family there. At this point we are planning on returning to Michigan for a couple weeks in December. Thanks again for your faithful prayers for our family.
5/02/08 – Friday – It has been another busy week. Still not totally packed yet – but close. We couldn’t have the yard sale last weekend because of rain and this weekend we saw was going to rainy also. We decided to have the yard sale on Wednesday & Thursday. We were not sure if it would go well or not. People must have been itching to get their first sale of the year in because we had lots of people stop. We were able to get rid of a lot of stuff we are not taking with us. We thank the Lord for two nice days to have the sale.
4/28/08 – Monday – On Sunday we were at 1st Baptist Church in Vestaburg, Michigan. It was a very good day. We were with the people of 1st Baptist for the whole day. A group of 11 people just got back from the Bronx a couple weeks ago! They went out to help with the building. Another group of 10 or so was there last June to help. We are very thankful for all of their hard work and concern about the lost of the Bronx. For the morning service Jen sang special music then we showed our DVD presentation and Sam preached. We had lunch with the 20 or so different people that have been to the Bronx this past year. We got to hear some good stories and see different photos they had taken. In the evening Jen sang again, and then we spent about 30 minutes answering questions. It was awesome to see the excitement from the people that have been to the Bronx. Most people we share with have never been to the Bronx let alone the actual work there.
4/26/08 – Saturday – We were supposed to have our yard sale yesterday and today. But it has been raining a lot with thunderstorms & lightning. We will try for next week. Please pray we can have it then. Next week is the last week that will work for us to have a yard sale.
4/21/08 – Monday! What a weekend! Up Sunday at 5:30am and home at 9:45pm. Sunday morning we were at Standale Baptist Church in Grand Rapids. We had a very good morning with everyone. Sunday night we were at Grandville Baptist Church. Their Pastor is Dave Crompton. He has been there just a few months. Guess where he came from? – Long Island! New York City! Pastor Dave has been to the work in the Bronx before so it was great to talk with him and get to know him. The other cool thing is that a group from Grandville Baptist went to the Bronx to help with the building a couple years ago! It was another good Sunday – of course we always welcome the chance to share about the burden God has given us for the lost people of the Bronx. Please keep praying for the Silverberg family in the Bronx, the progress of the building, and us.
4/9/08 – Yesterday, I (Jen) had the priviledge of attending the Central Michigan Association of Regular Baptist Churches Ladies Spring Rally at the First Baptist Church in St. Louis Michigan. Betty Guthrie from First Baptist Church in Vestaburg invited me to attend. Our family will be presenting the ministry in the Bronx to their church family later this month. It sure was nice to meet the ladies from Vestaburg. Now when we arrive at their church in a couple of weeks, there will be some familiar faces to greet us. The Spring Rally included special music and a nice lunch. Becky Hepworth, an MK from Bangldesh, was the guest speaker. She told lots of great stories from her childhood that gave us some insight into the life of an MK. Jay and Eleanor Walsh, retired ABWE missionaries to Bangldesh, were also present to receive a check from the dime bank project. Over $4000 were raised to help build tribal gathering places in Bangldesh – all from the ladies collecting dimes! I had an opportunity to meet new people and reconnect with people we have met over the past year during deputation. It was a nice day.
3/29/08 – The last couple days have been interesting. Two days ago we had a young couple come over to our house and look at it. There family lives across the street from us. They want to buy our house! This is where you come in – please pray that they will be able to get the financing to buy our house. As we said before, we are moving to NY in May and this would be perfect timing for our house to sell.
The same day we also had a man stop by who was interested in buying our car. I had just mentioned it to my neighbor when I was at his house earlier in the day. We got the car all cleaned up and then on Friday we put it out by the road around 2:30pm. By 4:00pm we had four people look at the car and our neighbor went to the bank came back and bought the car all within two hours of putting it out for sale!
3/19/08 – This past weekend we made our way back to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. We saw gas at a high of $3.69 and diesel at $4.29! WOW! Another highlight – we saw two eagles on this trip. We left our house Saturday morning and arrived in Curtis, Michigan in the evening. It was a good morning at Curtis Baptist Church. They have just recently voted in a new pastor. The church had a potluck dinner after the morning service. For the evening we drove to Munising. We meet with the Missions Committee for about 45 minutes. They had lots of questions for us. It was a very good night at Munising Baptist Church. We spent the night with the Mitchell family. Munising Baptist Church has a Christian School. At 8:15am we had the elementary age kids. Jen did the opening with several songs. Sam had a 25 minutes devotional for the kids. Next we had the junior & senior high students for 45 minutes. We really enjoyed our time at Munising. We left Munising after having lunch with Pastor Jason and arrived home later that evening.
3/11/08 – This past weekend we were in Manistique, Michigan (the UP). After getting all packed and ready to go we left our house around 10am Saturday. We made it to our destination by 6:30pm. The trip there was uneventful. We were at Manistique Bible Church in September 2006 to present our ministry the first time. Sunday morning we arrived at church and visited with Pastor Hank for a little bit. For the Sunday School hour Sam did a Bronx Facts & Trivia segment then did a lesson. For the morning service we gave a short summary of the Bronx ministry and what we would be doing. We had lunch with Pastor Hank and his family and were able to get to know them better. For the evening service we presented the whole ministry, showing our power point and taking questions. It was a very nice day at Manistique Bible Church. We did have one exciting moment after the morning service when we almost hit a deer. Emily woke up Sunday morning not feeling well. She is getting a cold or something. She looked so miserable riding home in her car seat. We left Monday morning at 8am and arrived home later in the afternoon.
3/07/08 – At this time we now have 62 deputation meetings scheduled for 2008. This does not include the times Sam was able to provide pulpit supply when we did not have meetings.
2/20/08 – This past weekend our meeting was to be at Vestaburg, Michigan (by Alma). We woke up 5:30am Sunday morning to freezing rain. It looked pretty bad out but we wanted to try to make it anyway. We left our house at 6:30am. It took us over an hour to go 30 miles. The roads were very icy. In fact, Big Rapids received an half an inch of ice. We called Pastor Mark and explained the conditions and said we would not be able to make it. We found out later that First Baptist Church ended up being cancelled because of the weather. We made it home safely.
2/13/08 – This past weekend we had two meetings. We left our house Saturday afternoon heading for Essexville, Michigan. We stayed over night at a Hotel the church reserved for us. We were at First Baptist Church in the morning. It was a good morning with the congregation. They also have their own pregnancy care center. Jen enjoyed talking with Patty (the pastor’s wife), who is in charge of the pregnancy care center. We spent the afternoon with a family from the church. Sunday night we were at Bay City Baptist Church, which was only about ten miles away. It was a good night there. We left there, had dinner and started for home. The weather was VERY cold. -2 degrees! With the wind chill it was about -20 to -25! The closer we got to home the worse the roads became. We made it home safe around 11:30pm. The next morning Jen called her mom. Jen’s mom said that on the news the night before when we were driving that our county’s sheriff said not to drive unless it was an emergency. We are thankful for God watching over us and getting us home safe to our warm home.
2/11/08 – We have a couple of new stats that we want to pass along. Some people wonder if a pregnancy care center is really needed in the Bronx. It is our prayer that there was not a need.
188,000 – the number of abortions preformed in NYC per year.
Abortions outnumber live births in the Bronx!
1/31/08 – Up to this point we had a “For Sale By Owner” sign in our yard. This past Tuesday we had a realtor come over from Coldwell Banker here in Ludington. We now have our house officially on the market. Please continue to pray that it will sell.
Last Thursday when Sam was at the jail, the man he has a Bible study with said that another man in his cell was interested in having a Bible study also. Sam was able to meet with the young man tonight and get to know him a little. They will be starting a Bible study next week. Pray that Sam can find out for sure if this man is saved or not, and if not help him see his need of Christ as his Savior.
1/25/08 – This past Wednesday night was an exciting night for us as AWANA leaders. The clubbers have been earning AWANA bucks since November 2007 to spend in the upcoming AWANA store. This past week was Triple AWANA Buck Night! The clubbers worked so hard and we had three visitors. In fact, the clubbers worked so hard that instead of awarding one clubber of the night award, every clubber present received a “Clubber of the Night” award. We are so excited to see the kids coming faithfully and hiding God’s Word in their hearts!
1/23/08 – We packed up and took off Saturday around 11:30am heading to Manitou Beach, MI. Manitou Beach Baptist Church has a missions house. We were able to stay there Saturday and Sunday night. We appreciate their hospitality so very much. We got up about 6:15am Sunday morning to get ready and head east to Britton Bethel Baptist Church. It was a good morning with the church. One of the church families had us over for lunch. We were at Concord Baptist Church in the evening. It is a small church, but God was still very present. We were at Concord Baptist in October of 2006. They have a different pastor now – Pastor Shoemaker. They have had 7 people walk the aisle in the past three weeks and accept Christ as Savior – Praise the Lord! We were up and on the road by 7:30am Monday. The weather was bitterly cold all weekend with wind chills below zero. The roads were slick and icy which made slow going. We finally arrived home around 11:45am, just in time for Jen to get ready to go serve at the pregnancy care center.
1/07/08 – Yesterday was the first deputation meeting for 2008. The whole family is sick at this time. We decided that it would be best if Jen & Emily stayed home to get extra rest, and not to infect anyone at the church. Sam went to the meeting in Benzonia by himself. Sam gave a missions message in morning service and shared about the Bronx ministry in Sunday School. After the morning service the church had a potluck dinner. After lunch there was an afternoon service instead of having an evening one. Sam arrived home around 4pm.
12/20/07- Well you only have 4 more shopping days until Christmas! Plenty of time for the procrastinators out there (you know who you are). Sam has been calling many churches and pastors this month. We now have 55 deputation meetings scheduled for 2008. We still have a couple dates that we might be able to fill. We are so thankful for how the Lord has provided the opportunity to share our burden for the lost people of the Bronx, New York with so many churches next year.
12/03/07- It is hard to believe that it is already December! We want to praise the Lord for providing many meetings for 2008 – 50 to be exact. We will not have as many meetings overall next year as we did this year. This year we had three or four churches that had us for the whole Sunday. Most weekends we were at one church for Sunday morning then at a different church in the evening. Next year we have about 15 churches that wanted to have us for the whole Sunday. Being at a church for the whole day allows us to get to know the people better and for them to get to know us better. Our will kick 2008 off at Faith Baptist Church in Benzonia, Michigan on January 6th, 2008.
11/27/07 -Check out Emily’s Corner page for a couple pictures of her in the snow.
11/23/07 – Happy Day AFTER Thanksgiving! Our family enjoyed a nice, relaxing Thanksgiving yesterday with turkey and all the extras. This morning, we woke up to Emily saying, “It’s snowing mama! It’s snowing mama!” She was so excited about wearing her boots and going outside to play. Sam made her a little snowman (snow was dry and fluffy) and Jen made a snow angel. We stayed outside about 45 minutes and came in with pink cheeks. Such fun!
11/21/07 – “O give thanks unto the Lord, for he is good: for his mercy endureth forever.” Psalm 107:1 – We pray that you and your family will have a very Happy Thanksgiving.
11/15/07- Thanks for your prayers! Emily and I are feeling much better. Tomorrow, we leave to go to Jen’s mom & dad’s house for the weekend. Her grandparents are celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary. We will also be going to her parent’s church this Sunday and celebrating Thanksgiving while everybody is together. It promises to be a great time of family fellowship. Jen has been busy baking cookies and homemade bread. The house sure does smell good.
11/05/07- Familes usually share things and Emily has shared her illness with Sam. Please pray he will feel better as we are leaving for NY in the morning.
11/01/07- Emily caught the bronchitis bug that has been going around. She had to go to the doctor today. He gave her a prescription to help her cough get better. He said she should be feeling better in a couple of days. Please pray that she will be back to her happy self soon.
10/30/07- Jen had a good afternoon yesterday at the Pregnancy Care Center where she serves here in Ludington. She was able to start a Bible study with a client that came in. Jen gets many chances to share the gospel. Please pray that women will accept Christ as their Savior. Sam spent several hours making calls so far this week. The Lord has been blessing with several more deputation meeting for 2008. We ended our Tuesday night with a missions committee meeting at our home church.
10/24/07 – WHAT A DAY! – Wow! Today has been a day like no other. Sam spent most of the day making calls to New York Baptist churches to try to schedule meetings for 2008. The Lord blessed with 10 meetings being scheduled today. YES you read that right – 10! Could anything be better than that to top the day off? Tonight at the AWANA club meeting an eight year old boy received Christ as his Savior. One of the AWANA workers led him to Christ. The awesome thing about it is that his dad is the man Sam had been visiting in jail and led to Christ about six weeks ago. The mother was led to the Lord about 14 weeks ago by two other men from our home church. We thank the Lord for such a day.
10/22/07 – Sunday Deputation Meetings – Just wanted to give you an idea of how our Sunday went. The alarm clock went off at our house at 4:40AM. We got ready, packed up the van and left the house at 5:45AM. Our destination was Faith Bible Baptist Church in Lapeer Michigan. We pulled into the church parking lot at 9:04AM. We had a very good morning service with the church. It is their “Month of Missions”. We had lunch with Pastor Swinehart and his wife and spent a couple hours at their house getting to know them. We were at Colonial Hills Baptist Church in Mount Morris for the evening. We arrived there at 5:00PM. Emily does not always take a nap at the same time on Sunday because of always being in a different place and with so many things going on. She fell asleep in the van just before we arrived at the church. Jen sat with her in the nursery until a worker came at 6:00PM. Emily slept the whole time we were there. We were given about 50 minutes to share in the evening service. It was good be able to share our burden for the lost people of the Bronx and also get to know the church people and Pastor Doug. We drove two hours after church and stopped to spend the night at Jen’s parent’s house. We arrived there about 10PM.
10/18/07 – New Ministry opportunity – We have helped with AWANA programs several times in the past but now have a new role for the first time. We are the AWANA Commanders for this year at our home church in Michigan. Last night was the first night for us in the new role. Please pray that God will use this program to see kids saved. We are excited to be able to serve in this way.
